Scattered across my two Foundry Valmont CX machines, I chose parts that would last and I could trust through any condition of the cx season. Starting with the cockpit, I have Thomson Road 46mm wide bars for maximum leverage, locked into a sturdy Thomson Elite X4 stem. With the front end stiffness dialed, its also important to have comfort, so I chose a Specialized Romin Evo saddle on top of a ultra-secure set back Thomson Masterpiece seat post. Precision and reliability is the name of the game when it comes to gear changes in cyclocross, and this season I went with a Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 electronic gruppo for each bike. 46-34 chain rings, an 11-28 cassette, and the world's lightest YBN 6.4 Titanium Gold Chain prepared with Molten Speed Wax's paraffin wax lubricant and Race Powder, provides me with the cleanest and most efficient drive train available. For finely tuning corners or full-on damage control braking, I put full trust into my Shimano R785 hydraulic disc brakes. Like the "cherry on top", my Foundry Valmont frames are decorated with different sets of Hed wheels. For race day I have mixture of ultra-stiff but butter smooth tubular Stinger 3's and the bullet-proof Ardennes SL tubular wheelsets (Ardennes SL Disc Clinchers shown in photos). Glued together like a match made in heaven, my Hed wheels are adorned with Challenge tubulars of only the finest tread choices meant for every condition in cyclocross.
